Family Law Mediator

Mediation is a non-adversarial and confidential process where a neutral third party (called a "mediator") encourages and facilitates the resolution of a dispute by mutual and voluntary agreement. The mediator does not "decide" your case. The mediator listens to both sides, with no judgment and no bias, and works to bring the parties to an agreement. Mediation can save time, money, and stress by resolving disputes without protracted litigation. One of the best results of mediation is that not all disputes need be resolved. In mediation, we can resolve all the issues involved in a case, or just one. It is entirely up to you, the parties, to decide the outcome in your case. It is also important to remember that mediation can conducted before a case is filed to avoid the expense and stress of litigation.

Nowadays, most courts require mediation at some point in all family law cases. There are many reasons mediation is used in nearly all family law cases, but the most important one being that with mediation, you control the outcome of the most personal matters in your life. I often tell family law clients that when you let a judge decide the most personal matters in your life, neither party will be happy with the outcome. But, with mediation, you have more control over that outcome, and the possibility of an outcome with which you are comfortable.
